Helene Vassos


Helene was born in Munich Germany, lived in Greece until the age of 12 and together with her parents immigrated to Toronto in 1974.

Upon graduating from the University of Toronto in 1985, Helene began her career in the not-for-profit sector and specifically, she held positions such as National Director of Programs and Services, Director of Development, Chief Operating Officer, Executive Director and CEO with organizations such as the Lung Association, Children’s Aid Society, ALS Canada, and Prostate Cancer Canada.

She retired from the sector in 2015 and has since dedicated her time to her family and caring for her aging parents, volunteering with local community organizations and causes, travelling somewhere distant and warm and investing in real estate. She is married to her high school sweetheart Adam and has two sons Dion and Christopher. 

Helene has an entrepreneurial edge and has always dreamed of having her own business.  In the summer of 2019 Helene applied and won a Cannabis Retail license and on December 16th, successfully opened the doors to her first store – Canvas Cannabis located at 730 Danforth Ave.  Since then, Helene has opened 3 additional locations in Toronto.

Helene is Toronto’s first female to open and operate a Cannabis shop and feels privileged and humbled that she has an opportunity to play a role in this fast growing and exciting industry.
